Open Adult Dance Classes and Performing Opportunities
Founded by Lauren Kidd and Jaime Simpson in September of 2023, Artistic Movements Initiative (AMI Dance) strives to foster creative expression through dance, providing classes and performing opportunities for pre-professional and adult dancers. We celebrate the joy of dance and are a welcoming and inclusive space for all dancers looking to share their passion for dance, and to grow in their art.
Lauren and Jaime bring their extensive experience in dance instruction, choreography, and performance coordination to AMI Dance, offering open adult classes in Ballet, Pointe, Contemporary, and Modern. They also launched the AMI Dance Studio Company in January of 2024 and offer performing opportunities throughout the year. We welcome you to explore our website, where you will find information on classes and the class schedule, the Studio Company performance galleries, and information on upcoming Studio Company auditions and performances. Dance with us!

“AMI Dance came together as the saving grace for keeping our dance community alive in Hampton Roads. Jaime and Lauren offer exceptional classes for adult dancers of all backgrounds. They’ve created a warm, welcoming environment for intermediate and advanced dancers to keep our bodies moving. I always leave the studio smiling and sweaty from a great class! Five stars!”
